EveryDay War (Part 1+2)
Assemblage

Born from innocent kids play with decorating a kitchen with toy army soldiers, EveryDay War (Part 1+2) explores the reality for many people that war is part of their everyday life.

Living in an actual war zone in which bombs hit the ground every day, people have no choice but to try to go about their normal lives. When the bombs fall, the transformation from an everyday task like preparing a meal for the family to death bringing violence is instant and life altering.

EveryDay War also deals with the multifaceted battle women can face every day in their own home. Suffering, pain, and trauma can be born by countless reasons. A wife trapped in her own kitchen by the effects of domestic violence fighting a war every day inside and out marches on like a soldier with the physical and emotional injuries often going unnoticed.

SYMBOLISM

Soldier
In a war, soldiers are the people who do the fighting, on the ground, in planes, or from boats.

2+1
21 nails are used on a coffin as a form of respect similar to the 21-gun salute at a soldier’s funeral.

Rosette
An ornament usually made of material gathered so as to resemble a rose and worn as a badge of office, as evidence of having won a military decoration (as the Medal of Honor), or as trimming.

Tree of Life
Used as a symbol in different cultures, the tree of life can be studied as a complex formula of existence, the flow of creation from the Divine to Earth and back to the Divine.  It is the Tree of Life and Knowledge, a magical key to how life manifests itself.
The tree of life is a symbol in which life and death are enclosed.
